Student FAQs

Who is Eligible?

Current UT students enrolled at participating campuses will be the only eligible participants in UT Online courses.

Registration and Courses
Where can I find a listing of UT Online Courses?

Please visit our online course listing page here.

When are UT Courses offered?

UT Online Courses follow the calendar of the campus where you will be taking the course. For example, if you are a UTS student and taking a course with an instructor from UTK you would follow UTK’s calendar which may have different dates from your home campus.

Please use the following links to access the calendar for the campus where you will be taking the course(s). Start dates, drop dates, holidays, and exam dates are important.

How do I register for a UT Online Course?

Simply register for UT Online Courses through your usual campus registration process. As with all courses checking in with your advisor is highly recommended and often required on UT campuses.

Where do I find needed materials for the course?

Course materials, including textbooks, are carefully chosen by instructors based on need to supplement in-class learning as well as affordability to students. It is the student’s responsibility to purchase required text and course materials. Your course syllabus will contain all required materials.

How do I log into another campus’s Learning Management System (LMS) to access my course?

After acceptance of your registration, you will receive a welcome letter from the teaching campus. Here you will find password and log-in information. Please note courses may open one week to one day before the first day of class, depending on the teaching campus. For further assistance, please contact the Help Desk at the teaching campus.

Costs
What are tuition and fees for UT Online Courses?

Students will pay tuition and fees according to their normal campus processes at their home school. For example, if you are a UTS student, your UT Online course(s) would be billed through UTS. A course fee of $50 per credit hour is assessed in addition to tuition.

Will my financial aid cover UT Online Courses?

By registering through your home campus for UT Online courses we have incorporated financial aid into our process so that you may register without worry. Follow-up with your home financial aid office is strongly encouraged.

Transcripts and Grades
How will UT Online Courses show on my transcript?

UT Online courses are assigned an equivalent course number on your home campus. Therefore, all courses taken through UT Online will show as a course from your home campus on your transcript. No need to gather transcripts from multiple campuses!

How do I handle a grade dispute?

Students should always contact their course instructor first to resolve. If a resolution is not able to be resolved you will need to follow the Grade Appeal process as outlined in your home campus catalog.

Technical Resources

Your home campus IT Help Desk is the best place to start if you are experiencing technical difficulties, however, you can visit our Technical Resources page for helpful links. For technical issues accessing your course on a campus other than your home campus, please contact the IT Help Desk at the teaching campus.

Tutoring services can be accessed through your home campus. We also encourage you to connect with your UT Online instructor for assistance.
