Faculty FAQs

Why is UT launching UT Online?

UT System leaders identified the need for flexible, online access to coursework in 2019. UT Online was created to provide greater access and flexibility to coursework and increase ability for students to graduate in four years.

How do I get my class listed?

We’re excited you are considering teaching a course for UT Online! Please begin by consulting with your department head. Each campus will go through normal procedures for course approval on their campus. Department heads are encouraged to reach out to your campus online director for inclusion of your course. Additional information is also available through UT Online staff.

How are classes selected?

Each campus is responsible for selecting courses to be included in UT Online. To ease registration processes initial courses are recommended to be taught in an asynchronous format, be undergraduate in level, have a direct equivalency on one or more UT campus.

How does my campus accept classes to offer our students?

UT Registrar’s Offices have access to the UT Online Enrollment Management System. Housed in the system are a listing of courses from each of our campuses along with course syllabi and faculty credentials. Classes must be “accepted” in the UT Online Enrollment Management System prior to being made available to students on your campus.

Who do I reach out to if I’m having technical issues?

All UT Online courses are taught in your home campus’s Learning Management System. For technical issues (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) please contact your campus IT Help Desk.

Where do I direct students for technical issues?

Please refer students to their home campus IT Help Desk if they are experiencing technical difficulties other than using your campus’s Learning Management System. For issues with your campus Learning Management System, students may be referred to your campus IT Help Desk. For helpful links to these and other resources, visit our Technical Resources page.
